'And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” '
Im sure a lot of you know those profound (and unfortunately, somewhat notorious) words of Matthew 22:20-22. But have you ever wondered exactly how far we are to take those words? Of course we dont want to go over-the-top and give more thought to them than is required...but just how much thought IS required for them??
And does it only relate to money? Or does it refer to everything we own on earth?
I suppose today's equivalent to Caesar would be the government that we have. And I suppose things that technically belong to the government that you may own include car, house, pets, liscenses, job, legal freedom, your money, things you bought with money, places you store/invest your money, your identity (thats another story :P), whether or not we have to join the army to fight in a war, even the legal procedure that declares that you are dead when you die is technically up to the government.
What's Caesar's and whats God's? And how far (or near) do we take it? Whats YOUR opinion? :)
God bless all,
