Starting a New Bible Study
We used to have a couple Bible studies here every week where we just logged on chat, were given a Bible passage to read, and then we discussed it. That eventually died because of how difficult it is to get everyone on chat at the same time, especially during the school year.
I'd like to do another Bible study, but I think that approach might not work too well. Do you guys think it could work if we looked around the internet, and tried to find a series of sermons or seminars that we could all listen to. Ideally, we could all try and go around the same pace and try to discuss it on blogs, forums, or something like that. I'm not entirely sure if it'd work, but I would like to try something.

Theological Essays
I've recently noticed that many of the papers I've written for school actually fall under the category of "Theological Essays". I don't mean the ones we debate here, they're mostly ones that all Christians would agree on, but they're still covering theology.
So I was just wondering, does anyone else have any essays like this that they would like to share? I'd love to read them if you do. I don't care if it's something that you think I'd disagree with, my only request is that you try and keep them under 10 pages. :P

Bible study
For a long while, Shadowfax and I were running a Bible study on Wednesday mornings. However, almost no one shows up for those anymore, and I don't want to wake up early for the study unless quite a few people come. I'm still open during that time, but I need to know if people will actually show up.
So, here's the questions for those reading the blog: do you want to be part of a study, and if so what times and what days work for you? There's already a study Friday evenings with A5 (if he still does them :P), so that time isn't available. If my schedule won't fit with what a lot of people want, I'll see if anyone else wants to run a study (if you're interested, you might as well say so in the comments).

Elections
Today (the 4th of November) I have been thinking a lot about the elections happening tomorrow in my state (Virginia). These are really important. Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General are all up for grabs.
If you guys could pray that God gives us some wise and godly leaders here in Virginia... not just here but also for the whole country. I mean, God's will be done, but I'm really just praying that we get some good leaders. We'll find out who the new elected officials of Virginia are on Tuesday night, but in the meantime please pray... Bible Study on James 4 & Humility
In lieu of a chat log, I will be posting a summary (along with some of my own commentary) of our most recent Bible study on chat. A5, Shadowfax, Goggles, Batgirl and myself participated. We read and discussed James 4.
Most of our discussion revolved around James 4:6 and the theme of humility.
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."
We considered questions such as, what does it mean to be humble? What are ways that we can be humble? What does that look like in daily life? We came up with five main ways to be humble.
- Treat others better than yourself
- Give God the credit for accomplishments
- Be long suffering
- Recognize our ephemerality
- Confess God's sovereignty

The Homeless (A Story)
Hey y'all!
This is blog post is really important to me, because it deals with something God has really pressed on my heart.
Around Thanksgiving of last year, I had an experience with a homeless person that changed my life forever. I wrote a story about it, and over the craziest three days of my life, it wound up at our local city newspaper. I want to share this story with y'all just as a reminder: Keep your eyes open, always.

"The Hallway"
Here is a fairly pointless (but still probably entertaining) short story to temporarily ward off your boredom (hopefully).
I knew not how or why I stood there, nor even when I came to be there. It was a dark hallway with a high ceiling, illuminated gloomily by a lamp that hung in the air above my head. In neither direction could I discern what was beyond the flickering light. And the air was filled with the smell of marble dust (I presumed the walls to be made of a dark color of this material).
I began to walk, but there was no way for me to tell in which direction in which I had to travel to escape. I slid my hands across the wall for support and guidance, for my legs were weak and my lamp was dim. I do not know how long I went on like this…
