We used to have a couple Bible studies here every week where we just logged on chat, were given a Bible passage to read, and then we discussed it. That eventually died because of how difficult it is to get everyone on chat at the same time, especially during the school year.
I'd like to do another Bible study, but I think that approach might not work too well. Do you guys think it could work if we looked around the internet, and tried to find a series of sermons or seminars that we could all listen to. Ideally, we could all try and go around the same pace and try to discuss it on blogs, forums, or something like that. I'm not entirely sure if it'd work, but I would like to try something.Read more >
I know I barely know you guys, and you barely know me. But we all have a mutual friend and Savior. And I would just like to ask for your prayers for me and my family. We are going through some tough things and would really like your prayer, and even more for you to keep this private. I know you might get these things a lot and I wouldn't normally post this kinda things except we really need it.Read more >
Hi guys. I would like to add 5 songs to this blog. I'll put them in 1-5.
See, wheather or not you like the music In the videos, wheather or not you like rock, pop, metel, rap, or contemporary christian music, you should still like songs that are glorifying to God. Here are some verses. (ESV)
Psalm 69:30 says:
I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singin…

"A group of American Christians in the nineteenth century planned to visit London for a week. Their friends, excited for the opportunity, encouraged them to go hear two of London’s famous preachers and bring back a report. On Sunday morning after their arrival, the Americans attended Joseph Parker’s church. They discovered that his reputation for eloquent oratory was well deserved. One exclaimed after the service, 'I do declare, it must be said, for there is no doubt, that Joseph Parker is the greatest preacher that ever there was!'
"The group wanted to return in the evening to hear Parker again, but they remembered that their friends would ask them about another preacher named Charles Spurgeon. So on Sunday evening they attended the Metrop…Read more >
I've recently noticed that many of the papers I've written for school actually fall under the category of "Theological Essays". I don't mean the ones we debate here, they're mostly ones that all Christians would agree on, but they're still covering theology.
So I was just wondering, does anyone else have any essays like this that they would like to share? I'd love to read them if you do. I don't care if it's something that you think I'd disagree with, my only request is that you try and keep them under 10 pages. :P
Here's my current list, just to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:
- The Resurrection
- Jesus as Man
- Socialism and Capitalism in Acts
- Systematic Theology Summary (really long, and incomplete)
I'd also be willing to look at any short…Read more >

Hello, my fellow Christian comrades. Christmas is coming soon, so I thought it'd be good to make a quick blog on what Christmas really is. You're probably thinking "This is obvious to any Christian. Christmas isn't about presents, but rather celebrating the birth of Jesus, right?" and you'd be right to think that, but I wanted to go a little more into this. Now think back to the time of the Roman Empire. Try painting a picture in your mind. There was so much sin all around. There was slavery, torture, a cruel government, it was like hell on Earth for some. People were wondering what the world was coming to. Had God abandoned them, under some corrupted empire, that they would never break free from? Then, one eventful day, God made it very c…Read more >
For a long while, Shadowfax and I were running a Bible study on Wednesday mornings. However, almost no one shows up for those anymore, and I don't want to wake up early for the study unless quite a few people come. I'm still open during that time, but I need to know if people will actually show up.
So, here's the questions for those reading the blog: do you want to be part of a study, and if so what times and what days work for you? There's already a study Friday evenings with A5 (if he still does them :P), so that time isn't available. If my schedule won't fit with what a lot of people want, I'll see if anyone else wants to run a study (if you're interested, you might as well say so in the comments).
Thanks for reading!Read more >
Today (the 4th of November) I have been thinking a lot about the elections happening tomorrow in my state (Virginia). These are really important. Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General are all up for grabs.
If you guys could pray that God gives us some wise and godly leaders here in Virginia... not just here but also for the whole country. I mean, God's will be done, but I'm really just praying that we get some good leaders. We'll find out who the new elected officials of Virginia are on Tuesday night, but in the meantime please pray... If some of these candidates (who are doing rather well in the polls right now) are elected Virginia will most likely see huge Obamacare expansion, "gay rights" legislature introduced, and any res…Read more >

Obamacare isn't free! *YDS* This is a letter written to my uncle from a friend when he was trying to sign up to Obamacare.

"Dear Lord, as we remember the evils of September 11th, let us turn our hearts and minds towards the good found only in You;
Be close to those who mourn: the parents who lost children, the children who never knew a parent, and all who lost a loved one;
Embrace this grieving nation, and let time never lessen the impact of this day; may we never forget;
Protect those who go in harm’s way to save others, and those who suffer and die to safeguard our nation;
Give wisdom to our leaders, that they may make choices that prevent another day such as this;
Convert the hearts of those who seek our destruction, and banish from the world the darkness that allows such hate to fester and grow;

In lieu of a chat log, I will be posting a summary (along with some of my own commentary) of our most recent Bible study on chat. A5, Shadowfax, Goggles, Batgirl and myself participated. We read and discussed James 4.
Most of our discussion revolved around James 4:6 and the theme of humility.
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."
We considered questions such as, what does it mean to be humble? What are ways that we can be humble? What does that look like in daily life? We came up with five main ways to be humble.
- Treat others better than yourself
- Give God the credit for accomplishments
- Be long suffering
- Recognize our ephemerality
- Confess God's sovereignty
Philippians 2 came up when discussing #1. It paints a picture of how we should…

This was written by Greg Laurie, I read it on facebook today and I thought I'd share it. :)
Our culture in the United States seems to be turned upside down. It seems as though, in the perception of many, what was once considered good is now perceived as bad. And what was once perceived as bad is now thought of as good. There was a time when, if someone was doing something immoral, we might have said it was bad.
If someone was living with someone of the opposite sex and they weren’t married, it was said to be bad. But if a couple was married, that was good. Today, however, that has been turned upside down. If you think marriage is only between a man and a woman, that is bad – that is narrow. Everything has been turned around…Read more >

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge" — Proverbs 1:7
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." — Colossians 2:8
"My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments." — Colossia…

Here is a fairly pointless (but still probably entertaining) short story to temporarily ward off your boredom (hopefully).
I knew not how or why I stood there, nor even when I came to be there. It was a dark hallway with a high ceiling, illuminated gloomily by a lamp that hung in the air above my head. In neither direction could I discern what was beyond the flickering light. And the air was filled with the smell of marble dust (I presumed the walls to be made of a dark color of this material).
I began to walk, but there was no way for me to tell in which direction in which I had to travel to escape. I slid my hands across the wall for support and guidance, for my legs were weak and my lamp was dim. I do not know how long I went on like this…
